Why do we like the people we like?

Is it true that opposites attract? And why are we attracted to the people that we are attracted to. Like this could be a faze but I'm in gr 11 and sorta shy and reserved I prolly seem a little boring to a lot of girls, yet I always end up liking the loud outgoing sorta wild girls idk why
